Euro GP Betting Preview

19th August, 2008

The Euro grand Prix takes place in Valencia on Sunday with the driver championship title race still wide open. The Valencia track is a new addition to the F1 Season, therefore none of the drivers will be that experienced driving it. Current leader of the championship, Lewis Hamilton, will be looking distance himself from Ferrari rivals Kimi Räikkönen and Felipe Massa.

Hamilton is currently on 62 points with Räikkönen closely behind on 57 and Massa on 54. Massa was extremely unlucky in the Hungarian race three weeks ago, after leading the race, his engine blew with only a handful of laps left. The Ferrari's looked quicker and more determined in Hungary and will be hoping to try and close the gap on the leader.

Hamilton had a poor race three weeks ago, being taken by Massa at the start and having to deal with a tyre puncture mid way through the race. He still manged to finish 5th to pick up some valuable points. Heikki Kovalainen finished first in Hungary making the most of the misfortune of Massa engine failure. So in a season of unpredictability, who will win this weekends race?

The Odds

The bookies are going for Hamilton again and most price him around 5/4 to finish 1st. Räikkönen is second favourite at 11/4 with 888sport. Third is teammate Massa at 5/2 with bet365. Or will home favourite Alonso at 40/1 with bet direct, emerge victorious? Hamilton will be hoping to retrieve some of the form he showed at the British and German GP's but may find it more difficult as Ferrari will take confidence from their performance three weeks ago.
