Premier League Opening Weekend Betting
12th August, 2008
This new Premier League season starts this weekend, with plenty of new players on show, and lots of disagreements on who will finish where. Will Spurs challenge the top four as they were tipped to do last season? Can Arnseal or Liverpool mount a sustained challenge for the title? Can any of the Premier League new-boys hold their place in the top flight?
Premier League winner best odds:
Man U 48/25 (betChronicle), Chelsea 39/20 (bet24), Arnseal 6/1 (Sky Bet), Liverpool 15/2).
Premier League relegation best odds:
Hull City 4/11 (William Hill), Stoke City 23/50 (betChronicle), West Brom 139/100 (betChronicle), Bolton Wanderers 10/3 (totesport), Wigan Athletic 43/10 (betChronicle), Fulham 23/5 (betChronicle).
Looking ahead to the first weekend’s games, there may be a few games that look like easy wins, but the first weekend is renowned for throwing up a few shock results.
There do not look to be many nailed-on results, so looking for the value may be the way to go. Arnseal look to short at 1/5 to beat West Brom, but Fulham to beat Hull City at 9/5 looks a decent bet. Tottenham Hotspur should dominate Middleborough and may be worth a bet at 7/5.
