The US Open Betting Preview
28th July, 2008
With a truly memorable Wimbledon now over, the US Open is the next Grand Slam on the calendar for the worlds best tennis players. Last year Roger Federer won the title beating Djokovic in a dramatic final. The US open is a huge event and Rafael Nadal will be looking to continue his excellent form by taking the title. The player won Wimbledon and showed he can beat current number one Roger Federer. However Tennis is a different game on hard courts as players have less time on the ball and the pace of play is quicker.
Federer will be determined to put the loss of the Wimbledon final behind him and concentrate on his performance in New York. British hopes, once again, only lie with Scotland's Andy Murray and he will enter the tournament full of confidence after great performances at Wimbledon reaching the Quarters, and Semis in the Toronto masters.
Federer is favourite to retain his title and will be determined not to lose another grand slam tournament to Nadal. The Switz will be training hard and improving his game before next months Open and is priced at 11/10 with Bet 365.
The odds on Nadal have shortened after his win at the Toronto master and many believe the Spaniard will be world number one very soon. Nadal is in great form and Andy Murray said "He's definitely doing a lot of things better than he was in the past" Nadal is now priced at 2/1 with Bet Direct.
The odds on third favourite, Djokovic, to win the Open, have become longer after he was beat by Andy Murray in the Quarters. He is now 3/1 with bet24.
Murray will be encouraged to know he is fourth favourite to win the title and is priced at 14/1 with bet 365. Murray beat Djokovic in Toronto and put up a decent fight against Nadal in the Semi, but he will need to continue to improve before he will be able to beat either Federer or Nadal.
Our Tip:
Nadal at 2/1 with bet direct. Nadal looks unstoppable at the moment and he seems to have put a halt to Federer's domination of grand slams. He has drastically improved his game in the last year and will beat Federer to become the world number one.
