US PGA Championship Online Sports Betting and Odds

6th August, 2008

The final major of the season, the US PGA Championship, gets underway tomorrow, with one clear favourite heading the field at all sports betting web sites, world number two, Phil Mickelson, at 12/1.

A spokesman for William Hill said how the betting had been relatively quiet: "The PGA is always the quietest of the four Majors but with the notable exception of Lee Westwood, this year has been particularly slow."

The last major of the year is known for being less popular with the punters, furthered by the absence of world number one Tiger Woods. However there has been a lot of money piling up being Lee Westwood, who can be grabbed for odds of 26/1. He is currently joint-fourth favourite to win at the impressive Oaklands Hill course.

Also heavily tipped is Padraig Harrington, winner of the recent Open Championship. He is fairly short at 21/1, but is bound to close and may well be worth an each-way bet.

Other names to keep an eye out for over the weekend include Anthony Kim, Robert Karlsson and Sergio Garcia, all of whom have more attractive odds.

For those choosing to do their US PGA Championship and sports betting online, Paddy Power are a recommended bookmaker to use, offering ΒΌ odds on the top six places for each-way bets this weekend. Another good online offer is from VC Bet, who will refund your total losing stake is a player you backed each-way finishes 6th to 10th inclusive, including ties!
